In this article, we present the case of Duraco, a company located in Mauritius, South Africa, a Rotoline customer for more than 10 years.
Due to the weather at the operating site, Duraco needed to customize its rotational molding machine and our team took care of it immediately. Read below.
Duraco, a Rotoline customer since 2008, contacted technical support to find out how the machine's cooling system could be improved, as the company is located in Mauritius, Africa, which, being a region of tropical climate, is the hottest in most months of the year.
Como consequência, os produtos ainda saíam muito quentes no fim do processo de rotomoldagem, o que dificultava a desmoldagem e causava desconforto aos colaboradores que executam esta ação. Isso resultava em menos produtividade durante o processo, pois havia um tempo de espera maior do que o planejado para que o molde esfriasse e assim fosse realizada a desmoldagem completa.
Duraco's request was a permanent modification to the machine's CLP (PLC) so that the cooling fans could continue to run longer after the end of the cycle, as this would decrease waiting time and speed up cooling, allowing operators to remove the parts at a more comfortable temperature and avoiding the risk of accidents such as burns.
Solução
As a solution, Rotoline's team of automation engineers delivered much more than that, as they developed a submenu where the operator himself defines how long the cooling fans will continue to run after the process is complete, with real-time monitoring through a progress bar and count, which can be stopped at any time if it is necessary to finish before the defined time. Additionally, it offers the option to enable or disable the use of fans as required.
The update was installed quickly after the request. The technical support, together with the automation team, carried out the installation during the period when the factory was not operational, through remote access to the machine provided by Rotoline.
“The project implementation period was less than a week. It was fantastic! Rotoline has always provided us with excellent service. We are very far from them and having a nervous breakdown can be stressful. With their help, our technicians are prepared to solve problems much faster ”, emphasizes Duraco Production Manager, Frederick Adam.
This allows operators to work more safely and without the discomfort of heat during the demoulding process. This also allowed Duraco a significant increase in productivity, considering that with this functionality it is no longer necessary to wait for it to cool to room temperature to unmold the parts.
